Proverbs 25:25 – Wisdom of Writing a Letter

Like cold water to a thirsty soul, so is good news from a distant land.

Reflective Thinking

Good news from a distant land can come in many forms but my personal favorite is receiving a long form letter from a loved one. We all have a deep need for good news. I was just reminded about the story of Jesus talking with the Samaritan woman at the well where she asked Him about living water. In John 4:13-14, Jesus answered her, “Everyone who drinks this water will be thirsty again. But whoever drinks the water that I give him will never be thirsty again. But the water that I give him will become in him a spring of water [satisfying his thirst for God] welling up [continually flowing, bubbling within him] to eternal life.”. What’s better than cold water when we are thirsty… never being thirsty again!

Action Idea

First things first… receive the living water Jesus gives to us all. Just because someone gives you something doesn’t mean you have to receive it. It’s your choice to receive it or not. Receiving Jesus is the wisest and best choice you could ever make in all of eternity. Additionally, write to someone you feel led to write a long-form letter sharing some good news. If you’re not sure who that is ask Holy Spirit to help you. He will give you the direction, you just have to listen for His response. Once you sense it, don’t question it… hear and then obey. It’s going to be refreshing for both of you.
