Have you found honey?
Eat only as much as you need,
Lest you be filled with it and vomit.

Reflective Thinking

You’ll start to notice the more you read the Word the more insight that will be revealed to you. It’s like receiving a precious jewel of wisdom, knowledge, and understanding that you didn’t even notice before. If you haven’t experienced it yet, keep reading God’s Word, you will.

In this proverb, God is reminding us to use self-discipline and restraint when it comes to eating, especially things that can be toxic to our bodies like sugar and carbohydrates. He reminds us to only eat as much as we need, not eat as much as we want. Listen, overeating and being a glutton, especially with sugar, will make us sick. If our body doesn’t get sick in the short term, it will in the long term. It’s simple sowing and reaping. We are sowing bad things into our bodies and over time it kills us and prevents us from fully engaging in our purpose.

Action Idea

If this is an issue for you, as it has been for me most of my life, choose today and every day going forward that you will eat healthy and when we do eat the delicious but potentially toxic things, eat only as much as we need, not as much as we want. We each have a God-given purpose, don’t throw it away because of a lack of self-discipline. Remember, as a follower of Jesus, you been given a Spirit of self-discipline that lives within you at all times. Remember that, write it on the tablet of your heart.
