Proverbs 24:13-14

My child, eat honey, for it is good, and the honeycomb is sweet to the taste. In the same way, wisdom is sweet to your soul. If you find it, you will have a bright future, and your hopes will not be cut short.

Reflective Thinking

Earlier this year I made the commitment to honor the Sabbath. Once I finally understood the wisdom of rest… I greatly desired to partake in the gift of rest… and stop working and overloading my life and my mind with busyness. How important is Sabbath? I think it could be one of the most impactful things you do in your life. I’ll say this, if I could go back in time and talk to my 21-year-old self and teach myself only one thing about the 10 commandments, I would do everything I could to ensure I knew and understood the value, importance, and wisdom of the Sabbath.

Action Idea

If you are anything like me, I heard of the Sabbath but I never truly learned about it. Start by getting knowledge about the Sabbath and seeking wisdom and understanding how you can honor yourself, your life, and your God with the gift of rest He’s given us. Here are my recommended resources on the topic that have greatly helped me: read Garden City by John Marc Comer, listen to this Dad Tired Podcast episode – Tired Practicing Rest & Sabbath as a Family (with A.J. Swoboda & Jarrad Lopes), and listen to episode 1 and episode 2 of The Current – A Sabbath Lifestyle (with Pastors Les Beauchamp and Micah Eldrige).
