Proverbs 21:19

It is better to dwell in a desert land than with a contentious and troublesome woman.

Reflective Thinking

Dwelling in a desert land sounds terrible especially when you consider this proverb was written way before air conditioning! With that said, let’s describe what a contentious and troublesome person is like. Being contentious is defined as causing, or likely to cause a disagreement or argument. A contentious and troublesome person can be described as being aggressive, argumentative, chippy, confrontational, quarrelsome, discomforting, disturbing, nagging, nasty, upsetting, and worrisome. The opposite of this kind of person is described as peaceable, peaceful and reassuring.

Action Idea

This is not the opportunity to point any fingers except back at ourselves. It’s always the perfect opportunity to pray and ask God to help change each of us into the man or woman He needs us to be for the people in our lives. Ask Him to live a life more peaceable, more peaceful, more reassuring life for others… a life overflowing with the love and grace of God.
