Sometimes when someone repeats the same correction to me in a short period of time I get defensive. When I read it in the Word, like here in Proverbs 10, I know if God is repeating it to His children it must be something extra important not to forget.
What is extra important about remembering, “But the mouth of the wicked conceals violence.”? I think wicked people see or participate in evil acts and they not only don’t speak up, but they actually hide it so others don’t see what is going on. I also think far too many people turn a blind eye to evil and tyranny. Too many times in history mass evil happens simply because people didn’t have courage to stand and pray.
With that said, I think it’s very important to have wisdom and discernment of what is evil and what is not. Right now in our culture, we are experiencing a disturbing increase of negative gaslighting towards specific groups of people and religions. Just look at the political situation in America right now. Influential Democrats have called the Trump supporters Nazis for years. Influential Republicans are saying the left are doing the same things socialist and communist regimes did and continue to do.
Action Ideas
- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of knowledge.”
- “Buy the truth and do not sell it. Get wisdom, instruction, and understanding.”
- “Abide in God’s Word. You will know the truth, and the truth will set you free!”
- “The fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom, and the knowledge of the Holy One is understanding.”
- “Be strong and courageous, do not be afraid or in dread of them, for the Lord your God is the One who is going with you. He will not desert you or abandon you.”
Proverbs 18:21 – Speak Life… It’s a Matter of Life and Death.
Death and life are in the power of the tongue,

Reflective Thinking
Today’s proverb doesn’t play around. Death and life are in the power of the words we speak. God is reminding us how important it is to be disciplined about what we say. This isn’t only talking about the words we speak to others, this also goes for the words we speak to ourselves. Some of the most damaging words I’ve ever said were to myself. It messed me up for years. Thankfully, I’m fully healed from that. I now believe the truth about who I am and who’s I am.
Action Idea
Here are some good words to speak to ourselves: I choose to respect the power of the tongue and I choose to be diligent and disciplined using that power. Yes! Once again, I choose to respect the power of the tongue and I choose to be diligent and disciplined using that power.
Proverbs 2:10-11 – Get Wisdom To Enter Your Heart
Reflective Thinking
Wisdom entering our hearts is vital wisdom key to consistent victory. When wisdom enters our hearts it becomes part of us. Wisdom becomes who we are and what we do because of that. When that happens, knowledge will be pleasant to our souls. Wisdom and knowledge will protect and guide or preserve and keep us from the enemy, the flesh, and the world.
Action Idea
So, how do you get wisdom to enter your heart? Take a few minutes and give the following process a shot. Start by closing your eyes. Take around 10 deep slow breaths while also silently telling yourself to relax your body and your mind. After that, you start to use your God gifted imagination. Start to imagine wisdom entering your heart. The cool thing is this is just a taste of the process. God is the source of wisdom. God is love. You’ll enjoy this!
